Is Facebook Really Necessary?

Is Facebook really necessary? It seems like it is eating away all our time? They say with Facebook you can connect with all your friends. For me though it seems like I end up talking to more people that i wouldn't talk to in person. I believe it teaches people to become kind of like a stalker. You get to go online and look at other peoples' pages and see what they are doing. Maybe today in this world people like to always "know" what other people are doing for example when looking at your friends you get to see who and what they are talking to and about, sounds like privacy to me. You may ask well that's what the inbox is for. Well I say then most of my wall posts should be messages then. I hate going to school only to find my friends talking about what i said to a girl last night over a Facebook post. It should not be like that, maybe you should have the options of which friends you've added can look at your other wall posts to other people. Another problem I have that Facebook brings is that it makes it so that even colleges want to see your profile to judge you. What does what we do in our free time matter for college admission unless of course it could danger other people. I mean they can already see our transcripts and all that other stuff, leave our personal lives out of it. If i was a dean at a college i would not need to looking through peoples' Facebook profiles to grade if they should get in or not as long they still produce their good grades it should not really matter.
